PRASANTA DAS BAUL & RAJA SEN (LIVE MUSIC CONCERT)
All are invited to our upcoming community show “an evening of Indian Folk, Tagore, Nazrul and Modern musical concert” being organised by the Canberra Bengali Community (CBC) group on 28th March (Saturday) at St John’s Anglican Church Hall, Reid, Canberra at 7 pm.
Two top-class Indian singers from Kolkata, India, Prasanta Das Baul (Bengali Folk) and Raja Sen (Tagore, Nazrul and Modern songs) will perform live concert. Proceeds will go towards the bushfires affected communities.
Prasanta Das Baul is a famous mystic minstrel from Bengal and comes from a family of generations of Baul singers. His music heritage is linked to famous Baul
singers of Bengal such as Laxman Das Baul, Purna Das Baul and Gostogopal DasBaul. Prasanta Baul croons from his heart and pours out his feelings and emotions
in his songs. He is a most sought after Baul singer in Bengal and performed widely throughout India, Bangladesh and Europe.
Raja Sen (Sandip) is currently a professor of music in Viswa-Bharati university-Shantiniketan, founded by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. He is trained by
legendary singers such as Kanika Bandyopadhyaya, Neelima Sen, Dwijen Mukhopadhyay and Ramkumar Chattopadhyay. In 1990, he was awarded
Dakshini Award as a mark of national recognition. He is a regular performer of Rabindra-sangeet and modern Bengali songs in Radio and Television and has
performed widely both in India and overseas.
